Impromptu Runs or Socials

How about we discuss impromptu runs or activities under this heading? Let's define an impromptu run or activity one that will happen within the next week or two and does not include personal information. Posting the impromptu runs or socials here will then leave the opportunity open for non-members of the Club to take in a run or social and check us out before joining.

This way as we have a run or activity within a relatively short period of time, members can always check here to see what's happening. As we are limited in our monthly website uploads it makes sense that impromptu runs cannot be added to the calendar and then have it uploaded to the website. Although, we're certainly not restricted, we will add your run or activity if you want to, but short turnarounds may not be feasible.

Once the run or activity is complete, I'll then remove the discussions in order to keep this topic to current or upcoming events. If you want to get into more details or have the event posted on the website, please use the Members' Only Forum and let me know so that I can the event to the website.

Reminder: Please respect the privacy of our members and keep the discussions general in nature ... no personal information discussed, such as members' full names, address, directions to their homes, etc.

Also, Please remember to send an e-mail to John so that he can get the run info out to all members as some do not review the forum and/or website on a regular basis.

Hi John & Marlene,

We have been contemplating getting the group together for a noon meal around the end of January. Unfortunately (both Bill and I have been ill during the early part of the month) and time marches on. We are wondering if Sunday January 31 would work with everyone. There is a very nice pub at Cowichan Bay where we have eaten, the view is out over the water, and we have never been disappointed in the food. Because we are so late getting something arranged, the people at the pub would have to know by this next Tuesday, January 26, if we are going to meet there as a group on the 31st. This all seems a bit rushed; however, the next Sunday is super bowl Sunday, for those who watch football, and then after that we are into the Olympics which many people enjoy watching.

Would you mind sending out an e-mail to the group to see if we could 'drum up' any interest in a club get-together on the 31st at 11 AM. They unfortunately don't have a brunch menu, but they do serve eggs Benedict on Sunday. They have a pretty comprehensive menu, so there should be something for everyone. Because parking is a bit of an issue, and also Sunday is a pretty busy day for them, they would like us there at 11 AM.

If we can't get enough people interested, we can try again around the end of Feb., and perhaps go back to the Silver Bridge Inn where they have the breakfast/lunch buffet. Or, maybe we could even do both!!
